Patch notes for version 0.607


Today's update is an important one. As of version 0.607, there are now 30 unique cards for the Soldier, 25 unique cards for the Ninja, 5 unique Neutral cards, and 26 unique Upgrades! The game is pretty unbalanced right now (in favor of the player), but what I'm really trying to nail down are two things - Fun, and Comprehension. Ignoring the numbers, are the new cards fun to use? Are there some cards that you always take and use (Rail Gun), or some that you always ignore or recycle (Flashbang)? Finally, were you confused by any of the cards? 

I added the Perks system (orange keywords) to try and help avoid confusion since some of the newer cards can have multiple effects happening at once. Are any of them overwhelming, or just don't make any sense? Don't worry about giving a solution, or a reasoning, just a simple "Card X was confusing because I didn't know what it would do," or "Card Y had too many popups to read at once" is all I'm looking for.

Don't expect much for the next week or two, unfortunately, as now with a lot of content added it's time to focus on some not-so-glamorous work for the near future. If bugs are found or new artwork is added I'll push out an update, but other than that don't expect too much until closer to the end of the month. On to the patch notes!

  • [MAJOR GAMEPLAY CHANGE] Stealth has been entirely reworked! Stealth now reduces enemy attack range by 1 for each stack. I never liked the old version, as forcing an enemy to not attack is way too powerful, and forcing enemies to swap targets is pretty clunky. I think the new effect is definitely the way to handle stealth, as it gives a different type of defensive benefit from Evasion and Shield, and there will be plenty of Ninja abilities that synergize extremely well with it, too!
  • [NEW CARD EFFECT - PERKS] Some cards had unique effects that were getting a little tight with space for explanations and thus could be confusing. These edge-cases have been rolled into short perk phrases that are shown in orange and give a detailed popup to the left of the card when hovered.
  • [BALANCE] Teleports are no longer considered Moves for the purpose of upgrades that trigger after moves (there are now teleport-unique triggers for other upgrades).
  • [GUI] Enemy attacks that hit multiple times now have an indicator on the intent/target icon in the upper-left. For example, if their attack will hit 3 times, there will be a small "x3" shown.
  • [CARD PERK] Anchor - Gain +2 Slow.
  • [CARD PERK] Bounty - Gain +1 Power for each enemy hit.
  • [CARD PERK] Cover Only - Can only be used while in cover.
  • [CARD PERK] Death Sentence - Trash this card if you fail to kill your target(s).
  • [CARD PERK] Duplicate - Creates a copy of a card that lasts for the encounter.
  • [CARD PERK] Enemy Neighbors - X is equal to the number of adjacent enemies.
  • [CARD PERK] Fortified - Gain +1 Fortify for each enemy hit.
  • [CARD PERK] Hand Size - X is equal to the number of cards in your hand.
  • [CARD PERK] On the Hunt - +1 Damage for each cell moved this turn.
  • [CARD PERK] Pickpocket - Draw 1 card for each enemy hit.
  • [CARD PERK] Reinforced - Gain +3 Shield for each enemy hit.
  • [CARD PERK] Scout - +X Damage where X is the range to the target.
  • [CARD PERK] Sneak Attack - +X Damage where X is your Stealth amount.
  • [CARD PERK] Stealth Only - Can only be used if you have Stealth.
  • [NEW CARD (REWORK)] Deflect changed to Parry (Ninja) - Gain +1 Deflect for each adjacent enemy.
  • [NEW CARD (REWORK)] Evasion changed to Duck and Weave (Ninja) - Gain +1 Evasion for each adjacent enemy.
  • [NEW CARD (REWORK)] Vanish (Ninja) - Vanish is now a temporary card that lets you Move 1 cell and gain +1 Stealth.
  • [NEW CARD] Assassinate (Ninja) - High Damage, High cost card with Death Sentence and Sneak Attack perks.
  • [NEW CARD] Backstab (Ninja) - Standard attack card with Sneak Attack perk.
  • [NEW CARD] Blink (Temporary) - Teleport 3 cells.
  • [NEW CARD] Call of the Void (Ninja) - Add 2 Blink cards to your hand.
  • [NEW CARD] Cutpurse (Ninja) - Low Damage with Pickpocket
  • [NEW CARD] Distraction (Ninja) - A free (0/0) card that adds +2 Exhaust to an enemy at range.
  • [NEW CARD] Doppelganger (Ninja) - Creates a clone with 1HP that enemies attack instead of you.
  • [NEW CARD] Even Trade (Ninja) - Free card that lets you discard 2 cards and draw 2 new cards.
  • [NEW CARD] Hidden Blade (Ninja) - Attack with 0 Cost but has Stealth Only perk.
  • [NEW CARD] Predator (Ninja) - Melee attack with the On the Hunt perk.
  • [NEW CARD] Replicator (Neutral) - Duplicate a card in your hand and add the copy to your hand (duplicate lasts for the rest of the encounter.)
  • [NEW CARD] Share the Pain (Ninja) - Apply half of the target's Bleeding to all other enemies.
  • [NEW CARD] Shroud (Ninja) - Add 2 Vanish cards to your hand. Replaces Vanish as a starter card for the Ninja!
  • [NEW CARD] Stalker (Ninja) - Melee attack that also adds 1 Vanish card to your hand.
  • [NEW CARD] The Best Offense (Ninja) - Gain +2 Deflect and +2 Exhaust.
  • [NEW CARD] Twist the Blade (Ninja) - Small damage attack that doubles the target's Bleeding.
  • [NEW CARD] Void Mirror (Ninja) - Creates a clone that grants you a Void Warp card each turn.
  • [NEW CARD] Void Warp (Temporary) - Swap places with any Clone.
  • [NEW UPGRADE] Leeching Nanites (Ninja) - Gain +1 HP every time an enemy takes Bleeding damage, but you cannot be healed any other way.
  • [NEW UPGRADE] Puppet Master (Ninja) - Gain a random Clone card at the start of each combat.
  • [NEW UPGRADE] Borrowed Power (Ninja) - Gain +1 Empower after each Teleport.
  • [New Upgrade] Strength in Numbers (Ninja) - Your Empower is always equal to the number of active clones.
  • [NEW UPGRADE] Void Traveler (Ninja) - Add a Blink card to your hand at the start of every turn.
  • [UPGRADE CHANGE] Serrated Blades (Ninja) is now an upgrade instead of a card. It reduces all damage dealt by 2, but adds +2 Bleeding to all attacks.
  • [UPGRADE CHANGE] Shadow Walker (Ninja)changed entirely. Now grants +X Stealth at the end of your turn, where X is the number of cards in your hand.
  • [UPGRADE CHANGE] Stand Alone (Soldier) - Now grants +1 Fortify if no allies are within 4 cells of you.
